DIY Pet Projects for Your Home

by Tina McManus 10/24/2021

Your pets are a valued part of your home, so it's important that you make your house comfortable and appealing to them as well. There are many pet-friendly DIY projects that you can complete that not only make life better for your four-legged family members, but also finishes off those details in your overall room design.

These are a few of the best pet-friendly DIY home decor projects:

Raised Pet Food Bowl

Whether you have a dog or a cat, you have likely tripped over their pet food bowls in your kitchen. To remove this risk and make it more comfortable for your pet to eat, you can create a raised pet food bowl out of wood.

Customize the design to suit your needs. You might even want to consider adding wheels to make it easier to place the pet food bowl in any spot. Don't forget to decorate it to match the overall design of your room.

Homemade Pet Tent

Pets often want their own quiet space to rest and relax. You can give this to them by creating a homemade pet tent out of fabric, wood or plastic piping. This simple project can be completed in a matter of hours and can be personalized to suit the style of your room.

Decorative Cat Scratch Board

Cats need to scratch, but that doesn't mean you want them scratching your furniture or flooring. Help them resist the temptation by creating a decorative cat scratch board that can hang on your wall. You can use a household frame to mount an old decorative door mat to the wall. Your cat will love their new toy, and you will love that it complements the rest of your home decor.

Pet Leash Holder

By making your own pet leash holder, you can create a customized piece of home decor that doubles as the ideal storage solution for those leashes that are lying around. Using an old piece of wood and a few decorative hooks, you can assemble a leash holder that can hang on the wall. You can paint or finish it any way that you prefer, but you may want to consider personalizing it with your pet's name.
